The word demographics has a meaning of a countries population is a county. This also includes the country’s population density, their ethnicity, their education level, their health, their economic status, religious affiliations and all the other aspects of the country’s population. Things such as gender, race, age, income, home ownership, disabilities and employment status’ are also included in the most common demographics.

These can even be called demographic data, in which are some characteristics of a human population that is used in government, marketing and opinion research. Childhood obesity is a trend that had become more and more as each year continues on. The amount of children who are obese that are only between the ages of 6 and 11 has increased from 6. 5% in 1980, to 19. 6% in 2008 (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ). The amount of teenagers who are between the ages of 12 and 19 who are becoming obese has also increased from 5% to 18. 1% (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ).

These high results of obesity in the United States today all come from a calorie imbalance which shows that children are not properly being nourished or they have obesity issues due to genetics, specific behaviors or environmental factors that take a toll (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ). This demographic has an impact of the healthcare market in many different ways. Childhood obesity can have some immediate type of health impacts and some long-term health impacts. Children whom are obese are more like to have the risk factor or developing cardiovascular diseases such as high cholesterol and or high blood pressure.

Studies have shown that children ages 5 to 17, 70% developed some type of cardiovascular disease (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ). Children who are obese also risk that they will have or end up with bone and joint problems and social or psychological problems due to having low self-esteem. Children who are obese at a young age are more than likely going to be an overweight adult as well and will then have even more health risks such as heart problems, diabetes, strokes and a variety of different cancers (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ). Changes in emographics will affect children who are obese health care in many of ways. The increase for direct health care services will increase as well as the medications that will be needed to treat the conditions that may come from a child being obese at such a young age. Studies show that children who are covered by Medicaid will be more the likely treated for services caused by obesity that those children who are covered by their own private insurance (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ). A child who is obese will cost the health system about three times more than the average insured child.

Children who are diagnosed as being obese are two to three times more likely to be hospitalized than a child who is not obese (ASPE. hhs. gov, n. d. ). Also, the children that are covered by Medicaid services are less likely to visit the doctor in office and are more likely to enter the hospital for their services instead, and those children who are tested for obesity are more likely to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder in the long run as well as possibly develop joint disorder that children whom are not obese.

A chronic disease wellness program will defiantly affect the cost for childhood obesity demographic. Implementing a program to reduce the amount of children who are becoming obese will decrease a tremendous amount of health care costs that are caused by this demographic. There will be a tremendous amount of fewer expenses for medications and treatments that would have to be addressed due to a child being obese. Childhood obesity demographic tells us that the marketing needs to be addressed to parents, schools, rand community groups.

This can be an issue that can be difficult to reach as a whole, but there are ways to place infrastructures that can be put in place to help reduce or eliminate children becoming obese. Schools have a tremendous advantage because they can implement exercise programs to help children become physical and take care of their bodies and health on a daily basis. Schools also have the advantage to look into obese treatment prevention programs to help prevent children from even possibly becoming obese. As an individual, normally the obesity demographic can be addressed only by the specific individual themselves.

However, since these are children who are becoming obese, parents, teachers and schools are the ones who are going to play a huge role in this demographic. Parents should be directing their child while they are with them at home and making sure that they consume a nutritious diet and receive the proper amount of physical exercise as well. Teachers and schools may also play a huge role because they can provide education based environments for a child to understand they need a healthy and physical lifestyle to prevent any possibilities of becoming obese.
