Our Nation’s Debt
The Social Security fund should experience a change in policy to ensure the working class the rights of their hard labor during retirement. Our nation’s debt issue could be used or reversed to make sure the working class is offered another sort of retirement option besides Social Security. A cut back on public welfare may harm the aging Baby Boomers in terms of medication and other living expenses. Our nation needs a new source of security for the working class. Some problems may arise during this time; the working class may refuse to place money in their retirement plans, the tax cut will increase their loss of revenue, and others will start to live longer without the appropriate medical insurance.
A simple change in policy to receive a less percentage of the funds could help pay off the $9 trillion dollar debt our nation owes. In a way, it is a payment plan to drop the current debt through a serious of tests by reducing some military costs in Iraq, enforce medical services to be reduced, and remove the new tax cut. The lost funding will be retrieved through taxes then the government can pay off our debt in segments through a certain amount of years. As more proposals are offered, more opportunities pass by for the policies to experience needed changes. What good will our country be if we begin to develop a submissive position in unpaid debt that could harm our credibility as a leader? I could only hope that Japan does not drop their debt too fast because everyone will be looking at us with a judgmental eye.
