A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature’s best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile; Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. One Step. Foolish people with all their other thoughts, have this one too: They are always getting ready to live, but never living. Your success will start when you begin to pursue it. Today before you think of saying an unkind word– think of someone who can’t speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food– think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Today before you complain about life– think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep– hink of the people who are living in the streets. Before whining about the distance you drive– think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job– think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job. But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another– remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down– put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around. Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.
