1 The Jewish definition of suicide is termination of your own life. 2 Jewish people believe that animal testing is wrong but you should use animal 3. Judaism teaches us that abortion is wrong unless there is a valid reason to have one for example, you do not have the financial capability to support the child or you have a serious medical condition. You cannot abort the child once you are 10 weeks pregnant. Jewish people believe that in some cases euthanasia is acceptable such as passive euthanasia; this is when you do not stop someone killing themselves even though you know they are going to kill themselves.
However in most cases euthanasia is not acceptable you see this in the quote Lord Jacobvitz “The value of human life is infinite and beyond measure, so that any part of life – even if only an hour or a second – is of precisely the same worth as seventy years of it just as any fraction of infinity, being indivisible, remains infinite. Another type of euthanasia is active euthanasia, this is completely unacceptable because you are taking someone’s life and shortening someone’s life is a major sin. 5 “suicide is always wrong” in the Jewish religion a reason this is true because it is not your choice for when your life is over it is gods choice and he is the only one who should decide when your life is coming to an end. Another reason suicide is always wrong is because you it is the equivalent to murder you are taking away a life that is not yours to take. It is against the Jewish religion to hurt yourself.
A reason why this quote can be argued against is because in some circumstances it is acceptable such as if someone is threatening you to either turn away from your religion and join another religion or die it would be acceptable to kill yourself because you are doing it for religion. Another case in which it would be acceptable to take your own life is if you are putting your life on the line to save someone else’s such as a blood relative. Overall in most cases suicide is unacceptable but on the odd and serous occasion it can be allowed.
