Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a memoir about the author Elie Wiesel, who during his teenage years survived the Holocaust. Elie shared his experience of living in the concentration camps, dealing with the stress and thought of being killed at any moment, leaving and sacrificing all he once had. Elie had given up everything, from his shoes to his dignity. He shares his experiences to show that the Holocaust should not be forgotten or repeated. The format that Elie Wiesel chose for his memoir is narrative novel. He uses narrative novel to let readers understand in his point of view what was going on during his experience of the holocaust. The sole purpose of the book was to relate and tell what happened during his time at the concentration camps and ghettos. He narrates his life in first person point-of-view and briefly explains what had happened as if you were in his mind.

The form of a memoir compared to the forms of Media to learn about the same content material are different because in a memoir it is the account of the author’s personal experience, as for Media, is more of visual and auditory. The positive of having a memoir is that a memoir is the writer actually putting you through his story though first person point of view. The positive of media, is that in media, you can visually and listen to scenes that happened during the event. The cons of a memoir are that if you cannot picture things, you won’t get out of the book.

The con about media is that it is not actually the writer telling you what had happened. My personal review of Night by Elie Wiesel was that he was a very brave teenager. He had to lie about his age, give up his prized possessions, and transfer to different concentration camps. I recommend this book because it shows how one person could keep memory alive, and share his memoir of struggles that he was put through by the Nazi’s. The reader will take away from their reading of night the memory that they should not stay silent. The whole book was based on silence.

The reader will learn to not be silent about an incident like so and never let it repeat.
