With researcher I have discovered that the U.S has used up to 1 trillion dollars on security to prevent successful terrorist attack and to make the U.S less vulnerable to get attacked. While some would argue against, It worked. Increasing security made the U.S a little less vulnerable for terrorist attacks. To decrease the vulnerability even more it would be right to enhance security even more by doing a better job controlling what goes in and out of the country, and by making places around the U.S safer by having more officers circulating and by having a lot of security at popular places because that is where terrorists like to attack.Enhanced security would help decrease the amount of terrorist attacks by decreasing the vulnerability. I say this because even the department of homeland security wants to increase security to decrease the chance of successful terrorist attacks that put many civilians in great danger. “The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its many partners across the federal government, public and private sectors, and communities across the country and around the world have worked since 9/11 to build a new homeland security enterprise to better mitigate and defend against dynamic threats, minimize risks, and maximize the ability to respond and recover from attacks and disasters of all kinds.” I say this because according to this from the department of homeland security website they are trying to enhance security to be able to counteract better against terrorist attacks in the U.S. “The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced it is implementing new enhanced security measures for all commercial flights coming into the United States, according to a senior DHS official… the measures, which will be phased in over time, will improve the security of U.S.-bound flights and is “hopeful other nations will follow suit.” Enhancing security would help decrease the chances of receiving successful terrorist attack also because according th CBS news the department of homeland security is trying to raise security on flights to make travelers fill safer and to be able to control what goes in and out of the country more efficiently.Well maybe I’m wrong, and enhanced security wouldn’t do that much of a difference on the vulnarav=bility of the U.S to terrorist attacks, because after all according to The Atlantic since 9/11 the U.S has used up to about 1 trillion dollars on security to decrease the chances of the same terrorist attack from happening, but still there were still some devastating attacks that happened including one of the most recent ones happening a few months ago in 2017 “Since 9/11, the United States has spent $1 trillion to defend against al-Qaeda and ISIL, dirty bombs and lone wolves, bioterror and cyberterror. Has it worked? fifteen years ago this September 11, 19 terrorists, using four jetliners as guided missiles, killed 2,977 people—and enveloped the country in fear. It was the first sustained attack on American soil since the bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was a far-off military base. This massacre hit the center of our government and blasted away part of our most iconic skyline. It left a stench that New Yorkers could smell weeks later as remains continued to be recovered from the ashes. Suddenly, we were vulnerable.”, but although many people would believe that increased security wouldn’t make a difference at this point because as long as there are big terrorist groups like isis there would always be attacks, it will still make a difference because we are a long way from being totally secured and according to the department of homeland security website more security could be used to decrease the United States vulnerability to terrorist attacks even more. “Protecting the American people from terrorist threats is our founding principle and our highest priority. The Department of Homeland Security counterterrorism responsibilities focus on three goals:Prevent terrorist attacks;Prevent the unauthorized acquisition, importation, movement, or use of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear materials and capabilities within the United States; andReduce the vulnerability of critical infrastructure and key resources, essential leadership, and major events to terrorist attacks and other hazards.I say this because a=According to this more security could be used to decrease the vulnerability of the U.S to terrorist attacks. According to my research, although many others would disagree, more security could decrease the United States vulnerability to terrorist attack by giving us a better chance to counteract against an attack and to control what and who goes in and out from the country better which would give us a better chance to track dangerous weapons and all around just dangerous people who may be panning attacks against the U.S government.
