English is not a subject that I naturally excel in. I often have trouble with grammar errors and being able to singularly pick out my mistakes when reading through the piece of work. I am able to write in different formats that I am given but often have trouble with past, present and future tenses. Narratives are normally pretty easy for me to write when i have a set topic, but I am not always as creative as I could potentially be. I seem to write more realistically but yet slightly imaginative, compared to a more fantasy based unrealistic story. I am able to write better quality work when I know the facts on the topic.
For example, if the task was based on researching something or there were answers that lead to writing an information report I would be able to write stronger than if I didn’t have as much information and I had to be more creative.
Throughout the past two years at high school I have gotten A’s, and various B’s in English. This grade can change depending on if the topic was a strength of mine or not. I, personally, feel that my teachers were reasonably lenient with grades and it wasn’t too hard to do well in their classes as long as you tried your hardest.
My previous English teachers include Mr Strempel for year 9, and Ms T and Mrs Ramsey for year 8. In year 8, Ms T taught our class for the first term of the year and then Mrs Ramsey took over the class for the remaining 3 terms.
In English, as I explained previously, my strength with writing is writing with facts or well explained criteria. Sometimes it’s hard for me to write out an assignment in English because I don’t fully understand or I don’t have enough information about the topic. I prefer writing with knowledge and accessible information since it allows me to produce stronger work. I prefer to stay away from longer books since I don’t often become bored with the book since it may not be that involving and climactic and will stop reading it. Interpreting information can sometimes be hard for me since I don’t always think outside the square, which leads me to not always understanding everything that’s going on.
The type of books that are currently my favourite at the moment include, cliché romance books since I find them sweet to read and at the end of the book, I’m not disappointed with a endings that make me sad, annoyed or angry.
I love movies that capture the audience’s attention well. I can get bored during a movie if not much is happening and the climax isn’t captivating enough. I often stay away from unrealistic movies since I can’t apply them as much to my real life which leads me to not imagine myself in the movie playing the character and being apart of that moment.
The movies that I love to watch include Red Dog, The Greatest Showman, as well as Now You See Me 1 and 2.
