Communication, which offers postgraduate diploma courses, located in Sanchar marg
has completed its astounding 25 years of excellence in 2018 under the direction
of Dr Mrinal Chatterjee.  

The campus of 85 students, 62 in English
journalism and 23 in odia journalism, is spread over 7.5 acres and situated in the valley
of Panionhala Hill, commands a majestic view and brings
out the charm of Dhenkanal as the place is filled with lush greenery and
beautiful alleys.

The institute had recently organized a
Filmi Chakkar seminar from Jan 14 to Jan 17. The seminar witnessed the
gathering of a prominent personality from the entertainment industry, editor in
Stardust magazine, Piyush Roy, who
happens to be an alumnus of IIMC. Director of IIMC Amaravati, Shri Nadim Khan too
talked upon the subject of “Cinema through the prism of reality”.

The three day long seminar manifest its
enthusiasm through various Film screening – kacha
limbu, Lincoln, the mayor, garam hawa.  

Which received a  great success and a wonderful reopeing for the
second semester, which covered a wide media attention. Many students from
Ravenshaw college, KIIT college and other universities of Odisha attended the
seminar and gave a positive response.

“I really enjoyed the two days that I spent
here and got to learn a lot of things about cinema” said, Shakshi Sharma from ravenshaw

“I admire this campus and the friendly
environment here”, said Utsav Mishra from KIIT College

Every year in IIMC, students from various
states come and take admission, the 9th month course become the
impeccable journey for them as they learn to live and how to deal with the
tough time the alumni of this are working on a big platform of media
industry  in India and across the globe.

Many famous alumni come every year and meet
the batch for training them and to teach them. This course has offered various
seminars and workshops in 9month course. From photography workshop to meet the
media. It is the oldest branch after IIMC New Delhi.

“I am totally attached to this place in
every possible way and now I don’t want to go back, IIMC is the best part of
life” , said Supriya sundriyal, 2017-2018 batch student. 

The institute was established  by KP Singh Deo in 1993, who is the king of Dhenkanal
palace. And truly responsible for this initiative for setting up this institute
here he had put a deep thought into the development of Dhenkanal district and
to give it a nation wide exposure.
