Abstract This paper examines the impacts on societal and individual change through movement and uses a bubble as an indicator of change through a multi-layered study of the chemical composition, historical insights and literacy responses from the ##. By examining the historically and scientifically based study, I will clarify and substantiate the idea that bubbles can be used as a metaphor to chart social structures and individual connections. The study includes the examination of the chemical composition of bubbles, the ascent and demise of a society and the use of a bubble as a metaphor for the individual.I use two major research strategies: (1) an analysis of the composition and a description of a bubble and (2) a close study of a society.

Data have been collected from books, interviews and published reports. The physical floating body of the bubble itself is enormously interesting. Bubbles have what appears to be a silky smooth surface; however it can easily pop when intervened by any surrounding objects. There’s a beauty to bubbles, maybe it’s the reflective sunlight that travels through the bubbles own physical traits making it pleasing to look at.Or perhaps it’s the simplicity of a bubble that perplexes the imagination and observations to the human mind. The bubble may seem close to perfection from your perception however its true quality and feature is one sticky disaster. The bubble has four main elements that mold its physical body as a whole: water, sugar, glycerin, and soap.

As the bubble ascended towards the sky, it finally ventured to its demise of breaking apart into minuscule drops of water, soap, sugar, and glycerin. Not to mention, bubbles have naturally acquired a prodigious aroma that enchants a majority of people’s noses. The observations (viewed by many students) occurring the duration that Ms. James class was joyfully blowing bubbles have noticed that bubbles can be used as a metaphor for different types of societies in our modern time and age. Note that the Roman Empire had been successfully rising and rising as one of the most successful societies in history. ”The Roman Republic was a very successful government. It lasted from 510 BC until 23 BC almost 500 years. In comparison the United States of America only exist since 1776 less than 250 years” (A Brief History of Rome).

However as Rome expanded to multiple lands, Rome had begun losing it power; ultimately creating the collapse of Rome. Rome is comparable to the bubbles in multiple unique ways; the bubble ascends to such a great height that it will eventually pop. Furthermore the students of Ms. James English class have intelligently grasped another distinct metaphor for the bubbles ascent, peak and demise of the bubble society. According to the observations of the students, smaller bubbles have a more likely chance of staying afloat in the perilous world filled with many unknown dangers.Just as the Han Dynasty kept to themselves, didn’t extensively enlarge their territory, and focused on embellishing and improving their cultural aspects of life. “Intellectual, literary, and artistic endeavors revived and flourished during the Han Dynasty” (The History of Han Dynasty). Furthermore the Han Dynasty is the most sustained society historically, noting that it flourished in the years 206 BC – 220 AD.

As I observed the bubbles ascend and descend upon the high school grounds I had cleverly come up with a comparison to myself towards the bubbles.During the increase of the bubbles surface area, it reminds me of how if I overload myself with high expectations and not fully complete them and I’ll eventually “pop”. On the contrary, I observed the smaller bubbles, descending to the ground and popping against its solid concrete surface; reminds me that if I don’t lay down high enough standards for myself I will descend to the ground acquiring the same un-forgetful demise. I would like to also indicate that as I observed the bubbles that I blew reminded myself of how people can appreciate life, and live through its entirety without a single care. However if one continues to take on this way of life, they will eventually meet their demise, and end up popping just as the bubble did. In a way, this example matches up with my personality. I tend to procrastinate with work until the last minute, and I obtain the risk of meeting my demise just as the bubble meets its own.
