The name Bahrain is coming from an Arabic word which basically means two seas ( bahr means sea in Arabic ) the reason of naming that is because of the two bodies of water which are saline and fresh. Also, Aquifers were a huge factor in naming the islands Bahrain. They can be found under the islands of Bahrain.

Awal was the name of Bahrain before it was introduced to Islam or before it had officially became an islamic country. The reason of naming the Bahrain islands Awal was because it was named after a pre-islamic deit. It was was worshipped by the people of the Bakr bin Wa’il Tribe.
Awal was a known center of trade at its time, it was visited by many different countries from different cultures and the used to practice trading there. The people who passed by or visited would take many things from Awal back home while the people of Awal only took a few. Awal left its mark on anyone who would pass by there. Unfortunately that was all lost to the negative effect of some battles. The people who are to blame for these battles are the Sassanians and the Byzantine Empire. These were the people who marked the Awal time because of the battles they caused at that time. The battles were due to the intention of taking over / taking control of the south of Arabian Peninsula. Ethiopia also got involved in intention to control it too. These battles were a cause to an outrageous downfall in the trade of Awal due to the struggles they had to fight back the Sassanian and Byzantine powers and intentions to control the land of Awal. The Time of Awal was Up to 630CE
The seasonal movement of the following tribes were taking place to come to Bahrain in the Awal period:
Azd & ‘Adnanite
‘Abd Al Qais
Bakr bin Wa’il
