Today I will be talking to you about Apple, not the fruit, but the company that completely changed the world we live in today. I can assure you that Apple, has influenced your life in one way or another, take a second to think about that and if I’m wrong, guarantee your life will be affected by an Apple product in the future. During this presentation, you will learn about the History of Apple such as the founders and how it all began. Will also give a brief description of where its headquarters are located, Apple’s Mission, their targeted Clients and
Competitors, Current trends and Issues, and Last but not least, Why I would want to work for them. First, lets talk about the History and Location of Apple. Apple Inc. , formerly Apple Computer, Inc. , is an American multinational corporation that designs, develops, and sells electronics, computer software and personal computers. Its best-known hardware products are the Mac line of computers, the pod, the phone , and the pad. Apple was established on April 1, 1 976, by Steve Jobs, Steve Woozier and Ronald hankering’s “http://en. Kipped. Org/wick/Apple_Len” to sell the Apple I personal computer kit. The kits were hand-built by Steve Woozier. Apple was incorporated January 3, 1977, without co-founder Wayne, who sold his share of the company back to Jobs and Woozier for $800! Little did he know that he was making a big mistake. Apple headquarters is currently located In Cupertino, California; the company has come a long way from what it used to be. The computer market has always been a PC based system being mainly pushed by the Microsoft platform.
Apple Computers has been struggling to make it in the computer market for a long time, going up against their competitor Microsoft who had a monopoly on the market. Microsoft had such a strong following for the entire business world that it was very difficult for Apple to make any sort of impact against its competitor Microsoft. Apple passed Exxon to become the world’s most valuable company in market capitalization in August 2011 , making a dramatic turnaround from being nearly broke years before. All this is due to the popularity of the phones, pods, pads, and new laptops.
Type of Business/Mission Statement As I mentioned before, Apple is a software company, but according to leaked information from an unnamed Analyst at Reuters, Apple has plans to begin Designing Vehicles and integrating their software into vehicles in the future. I think it would be awesome to be able to Lock/Unlock and control my car from my phone, there are endless possibilities when it comes to Apple Products. As shown on their website, Apple’s Missions statement is “Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with SO X, life, rework and professional software.
Apple leads the digital music revolution with its pods and tunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary phone and App Store, and is defining the future of mobile Edie and computing devices with pad. ” Simple, yet unique, is all I have to say about that. Apple is marketing to people who have a few characteristics. 1) Middle/Upper income folks who are willing to pay a bit more for a better user experience. Paying 500 more for a computer is not a huge deal if you have a decent income. 2) People who like to have fun with technology. 3) Music enthusiasts and fans ages 12-35. ) Professionals in media and design. The first two groups do overlap, but it’s a huge market. Apple’s problem is not really pricing, their problem is the status quo. People who should insider Macs don’t, because of a stigma of incompatibility that developed in the ass’s. Apple’s market share and success will grow in the next ten years for the simple reason that our generations X and Y who have been exposed heavily to the internet weren’t using computers much during the ‘compatibility’ days but anyway, the ‘compatibility’ problem dies when the people who believe in it are not young anymore.
Current Business Trends Restaurants around the country are beginning to invest into the pad. Many Restaurants in cities like New York, are adopting a new way of processing orders via pad. The Menus are programmed into the pad and the customer has the option of ordering the food and within seconds, a ticket is printed into the kitchen thus creating a speedy ordering process while also providing the customer with satisfaction and also a means of entertainment while waiting for the food. Pads have become so useful and efficient that even Schools are buying them in bulk and using them to replace actual textbooks for class.
In fact this past year, my former high school has invested money into buying an pad station for the school, these stations consist of 20-30 pad fully customized for school use only. The text books that the specified class might need are already downloaded onto the pad. I think this is pretty cool and will definitely help save money on Textbooks that get outdated within a year. Apple has completely changed the Mobile Industry with the phone. The first phone was released in 2007 and has since then sparked a trend in touchstones phones.
Apple was not the first company to release a touch screen phone but it was the first to create a phone that would eventually be capable of doing anything, it would eventually make its way into the everyday life of an average person. Since its release, nearly every Cell phone company as tried to imitate the phone or create the closest thing possible yet there is nothing like it. The closest thing to the phone and its operating system would be the Android phones by Samsung but I will go into more detail later on. An tell you from personal experience, I can literally do anything I want with my phone and pad and the world would definitely not be a better place without these things. Top Competitors With technology on the rise and many new smartness and devices being introduced, as well as devices dominating the market, it can be said that Apple has many competitors, but the question is, can their products actually moment with Apples? The two main Companies competing with Apple to take over the industry are Samsung and Microsoft.
In 2007, Apple introduced the original phone. There was nothing like it in the marketplace: a multi-touch screen that took up almost the entire face of the device, a user interface based on discrete APS. The competition responded, at first, by trying to recreate the phone. “We too can make phones that use full-size screens with APS,” the competitors seemed to say. Once Apple’s competitors realized that creating another version of the phone wasn’t enough, they took what they thought was the ext logical step which was to design or redesign a tablet.
When apple revealed the pad, competitors tried to produce a Knock off or a device that nearly matches the pad Such as the Black Berry Playbook or the Android Tablet. To be honest, these tablets are actually pretty cool but do not come close to defeating the pad. As far As the pod, there is really no other device that can match it. Current Issues Apple is currently fighting several issues, mainly copyright issues. According to an article from The Wall Street Journal, Apple has file numerous lawsuits against Samsung for alleged patent and trademark infringement.
Apple alleges that Samsung has purposely modeled several of its Android products after Apple’s hit pad and phone devices. Among the offenders are Samsung Galaxy line of tablets and smartness. Apple claims that the design, hardware, and interface features Of Samsung gadgets too closely resemble the devices. Why want to work for Apple Ever since the first pod touch came out, I fell in love with it. Even though at first the only functions it could perform were music, photo and video playback as well as web browsing, I thought it was an amazing device. Then I figured out how to “JailBreak” It.
A Jailbreak is another term for unlocking the full potential of the phone/pod touch. It allows you to do things with it that you weren’t originally able to do. For example back In high school I transformed my pod touch into Plantation, I was able to download Plantation games and play them on my pod. Was also able to change the themes, keyboards and the sounds that it made. The jail breaking community had a huge impact on devices they created the Passport before Apple, and received no money for it. The reason want to work at Apple is to be a Developer and be able to design APS and new features for devices.
